I will speak only for Lake Superior D1 as Wisconsin is superior…and I dont know that many players from other conferences. I am not giving out numbers, because I am rooting for all these players to destroy everyone(but blackcat) and dont want any secrets to be revealed. All-Regional Team:
Nick Vogt(Hodags)-Hate to see him on the field when we are playing against him. Smart, athletic cutter that manages to get so open you don’t even notice he has a defender. Will lead the Hodags to the success they earn.
Jeff Maskalunas(Hodags)- Dominant presence on the field. A 6’4" athlete that has the ability to throw around players. His experience and well rounded talent makes it hard to shut him down.
Eric Blais(Birdhouse)- This man literally took a damaged, sick team
of almost savage 9 Marquette players and dragged them to their bid to regionals. He plays through injury, tiredness, and a literal brick wall to win. Layout ds, lockdown handler defense, commander of their offense, ruler of their sky, the one that makes the other team yell shooter. He is the reason birdhouse is in the top 100. If anyone deserves an all-regionals spot, it is this machine. Watch out for him in club.
Dylan Power(Subpar)- Only in his second year, he is already running the team at whitewater. You saw him play wildfire last year, playing radicals this year. He breaks zone apart with quick movement, excellent in the air, and looking to be a good team leader for a team that is very much so in a rebuilding year.
Will Casperson(Blackcat)- He will scare the poop out of your body, into your pants. Just wait to see him fly at regionals. Proud of my player, if you want to see his strengths, watch him at regionals.
Pip Johnson(Blackcat)- One of the smartest players in the college game right now. He can break down what needs to be exposed and totally annihilate your team. Proud of my player, if you want to see his strengths, watch him at regionals.
John Tan(Hodags)- Highlight reel after highlight reel. Sometimes I get bored of playing against him and watching him go deep. From club to college, this is the most true deep-deep I have ever played against.
Freshman All-Regional Team
Jackson McCausland(Blackcat)- Don’t forget this name. He has already been in love with the game for years. Has beautiful throws and is faster than every single person who guards him. Pulled a chest high bids out of nowhere on more than one occasion. If you play him you will see him. If he does not make the all-regional freshman team I will know for a fact your system is flawed. He would be playing an active role for any team in the nation.
Charlie Benforado(Blackcat)- Already one of the leading deep threats for this team. Madison West alumni that is a very intelligent, athletic cutter. He will sky you. He will be one of the best. You don’t want the disc in his hands either. WHATCHOUT.
Andrew Erickson(BadLUC)- An incredible hander coming into a team that is looking to grow. Continue to keep an eye on him. He has incredible throws and is already stepping into a leading handler role for this team. Has some learning to do to be the guy, but he is already breaking zones and taking names.

Today We’re asking players to decline the all-region honors earned in the absence of Michael ‘The Worminator’ Wormley. Please see the attached letter.
as it became clear The Worms graduation bars him from considerations for all region, we attempted to slide into the DM’s of likely All-Region nominees and commit now to not taking The worms spot.
we await the day where these players have the chance to beat worm on the field but until he has a chance to defend his spot, others should not take it.
as we await each players response we share the letter with the greater community.
We hope every player in the North Central region and college ultimate in general will commit to not accepting Wormley’s spot.

Hodags:
Nick Vogt - Smarter than you. Good decision making. He is the backbone to Wisco. Won’t do anything incredibly flashy, but will beat you with all the fundamentals. His spikes are also sweet. He’s been a staple on the O line for years now. It’s centered around him this year. You’d be lucky to stop Nick. Clear why he’s U24.
Ted Schewe - Fast, tall, and can jump. Has got the throws too. You think it’s tough to guard Nick? Watch out for Ted. Only a sophomore or junior?
Jeff Maskalunas - He’s a BIG man. Will guard your better cutter and beat them. Has got all the skills of a good thrower too. Anchor of the Hodag D line and for good reason.
Sam Hebert - He’s a swiss army knife. He can guard your best cutter or handler and then play really well on the turn. Heard he plays Mad Club and it shows. He’s their guy on the d line offense. Very quick and will roast you on the turn.
Logan Martin - Physical defender that will make you work on offense. His offensive game isn’t as fine tuned like Heberts but he will still get it done. Worthy of a nod.
Rami Paust - On the hodags for good and they need him. He’s been their guy on offense as the center handler. Big hucks and will get the disc back easily on the turn. Watch for his monster throws at regionals.
Gray Duck:
Cole Jurek - Athletic cutter that can beat you with his throws or legs. Only active player for Gray Duck that’s U24 and it shows. If you are afraid of him skying you, force him under and he will throw bombs. Your choice.
Wills Weimer - He’s a big cutter. Will come down with a lot of jump balls and has shown some good D on the turn.
Wystan Duhn - The anchor to Gray Ducks offense. He’s arguably the best player on the team. He has big throws and will light up the defense if you don’t contain him. Used to be a D line huck it guy, now is the guy on a strong offense.
Sam Kaminsky - Used to be a mainstay on the O line but is now D line this year for Gray Duck. One of their most important players for converting breaks.
Cole Wallin - Heard he hasn’t played yet this season. Gray Duck is missing their best player then because he killed at regionals last year. If he’s playing, watch out. U24 so you know he’s good.
Cut:
Joe White - Need we say more?
Dillon Lanier - Beat you with his throws or beat you with his legs. Pick your poison.
Harry Landau - Most underrated guy on this team. Him and Dillon are the two most important pieces to their o line. When these two are on and hitting their throws, they are lethal.
Luke Webb - Fast and good defender. Won’t hurt you with his throws, but watch out for him going deep.
Ethan Bloodworth - If he is guarding you, you won’t get open. Should be an easy pick for first or second all-region.
Freshmen:
All trash. Who cares.

Bias alert – Iowa coach here. Only commenting on teams that we played, which was Pool B + Marquette. No insight on Minnesota/CUT.
Iowa:
#0 – Tyler Barrett. He played basically every point all weekend up until Wisco took a commanding lead against us in the backdoor semi’s. There wasn’t a single team that could consistently stop him from demanding the disc every other and he probably accounted for 80%+ of our goals via assists/hockey assists. I honestly believe he belongs up on the first team, but definitely 2nd.
#17 – Reno Brinn. Center d-line handler with a bunch of layout D’s and footblocks on the weekend. He showed up big against Wisconsin and ISUC and went every other with Barrett for a large chunk of our total yardage.
Iowa State:
#6 – Scott Hearne. I definitely called this one. Scott is really good and one of the hardest workers. Didn’t come to college with much ultimate experience and quickly became one of the premier throwers in the North Central. His hucks are super good, he plays tight defense on tough matchups, and generally gets open when he wants to. His pulls routinely pinned teams on their own goal line. Scott absolutely deserves first team all-region and I think anyone that played them would agree with me.
#19 – Ben Joerger. As advertised. Crazy good deep threat with solid continue throws. I only watched pieces of ISUC’s games this weekend but I didn’t see him outmatched once; he can play with any other deep threat in the region.
#9 – Josh Poterack. Really long defender with incredible body control on his layout D’s (of which there are many). I don’t think I’ve ever seen him make a dangerous bid and he comes up huge when it’s a seemingly foregone conclusion that it will be an easy under. I think definitely in contention for 2nd team. Someone get him to play club.
#44 – Jack Loy. Malaysian U24 player that is suuper springy. Had a really great layout D in the CUT game that I saw and had 2-3 more against us at sectionals/regionals. I don’t think he makes 1st/2nd team but he’s worth mentioning.
Wisconsin:
#64. Huge bids, solid around throws and presence in the backfield. Most impressive player, to me, in the two games that we saw the Hodags.
#8. Didn’t do anything super flashy against us (games were fairly lopsided) but was usually pretty open on unders. I didn’t stick around to watch the 3rd place game so I’m not sure if he did anything super cool there but I imagine he will make first team.
#4. Really great handler defender, matched up on Barrett a lot. Good at pestering the give-go that we like to do.
#49. Deep threat specialist but super good at it.
#??. Lefty on their d-line with some really good pulls. He was also really patient with the disc on a turn.
Marquette:
#11. Scored basically all of their goals and was open a lot of the time. Good player.
#99. Very solid throws, even going upwind.

Regionals is over. Here’s some more names after watching teams this weekend.
Iowa State:
Scott Hearnes (I think). He’s legit. He should be all-region. He was good as a defender and was the key to ISUC beating Cut.
#9 (sorry don’t know his name). He was flying all over the place this weekend getting D after D after D. Great player. Whoever knows his name should post it.
#19 (don’t know his name either). He is a big man that comes down with almost every 50/50 ball. Be careful of him as a cutter and especially as a deep threat.
Iowa:
Tyler Barret. He is a legit thrower and was great during the windy games on Sunday. Should get a nod on either first or second team.
Wisconsin:
Jon Tan. He is quite the athlete and will come down with a lot of discs. Scored the game winner by skying a cut guy for a bid to nationals. That itself is worthy of an All-Region nod.
Minnesota:
Trevor Graham. He threw the game winner for Gray Duck in semis. Auto all-region. He had the Nick Vogt matchup all game and was doing well containing Vogt.
That’s really about it for additions. Maybe some more guys on ISUC, but #6, #9, and #19 really stood out.
As for POTY…
There’s really only 3 names that should be in contention for this…
Nick Vogt (Wisconsin #8), Cole Jurek (Minnesota, #13), and Sam Kaminsky (Minnesota, #11).
Nick Vogt is the centerpiece and guy on Wisconsin. He willed them to nationals against Cut in the 3rd place game. Great player. Very good cutting and timing. Maybe one of the smartest cutters in the country. Clear cut POTY contender.
Cole Jurek was probably the best player on the field in every game he played in. When watching the Cut game on Saturday, he was beating the Luke Webb matchup. Definitely should be a contender for POTY.
Sam Kaminsky won’t do anything flashy for Gray Duck, but he might be the most important player for them whenever he’s on the field. He’s been the backbone to the team all year, and he helped lead them to a regional title. Should be a contender for POTY.

#6, 9, 19 they willed their team past the carleton powerhouse, they deserve to be in the discussion for all region

#4, 8, 64
#4 is a great handler defender and quarterbacked their dline. good calm field presence
#8 vogt, good overall player, super smart and talented cutter. a lot of discs that look uncatchable he’s able to make a play on.
#64 jeff. dudes a monster on defense comes down with a lot of 50-50’s and plays super smart.
minnesota
didn’t get a good chance to see their talent but duhn and kaminsky were able to run their lines and throw a lot of players open. both the coles are pretty good, but i know both of them have had injury issues
cut -
90, 14.
both were the main two guys to stand out on their team, their other dline handler 32? also did a pretty good job, but both 90 and 14 were big matchup issues.
milwaukee - 11 will casperson. rock solid handler, always open in the handler set, seldom makes turns. locks up the other teams best handler every game.
iowa - tyler barrett 5? runs his oline very well, main standout player on the team. rino? and kyle also do a pretty good job.
marquette - eric blaise 99, took a major role on this marquette team. he’s a do it all kind of handler, plays lockdown defense, and seldom sits. he’s a major matchup issue
whitewater - dylan power 71. great thrower, great defender, dude really shows up and elevates his cutters around him. also super good in handler sets.
all freshman ————
milwaukee #3 jackson mccausland - he’s our lefty handler. dude is one of, if not the fastest dude in the region. and the dude has throws as well. and to round it all off he’s a menace on defense. led our team in blocks this year by over 10 blocks often being matched up with other teams top players, and lastly the dude led our team in playing time every weekend
there is not a freshman in the region that had more impact on his team than him.
#15 charlie benforado - dude came into the team and immediately had impact. he’s often 1st or 2nd in goals every tournament and comes down with most 50/50’s.
another huge impact player on our team. also the dude is always open.

The Worm is POTY.
Minnesota: Got carried through bracket play solely by the energy of their rowdy parents taunting and harassing the observers and other teams. They blew the first half of finals down 5-8 to regional champions Iowa State, and won by pure luck as Iowa State went on to throw the game due to high-stakes jitters. Minnesota’s own B team brought Iowa State 9-9 the day before. Word is that Gray Duck may be relinquishing their bid this week to BYU, stand tuned.
Iowa State: Even though they lost to Minnesota, Iowa State is better than the 3 best teams in the region. However, they really lucked out and hit the sweet spot of where the weather was bad enough to make CUT uncomfy, but not bad enough to stop their intramural style of play. Regardless, facts are facts, and they’re better than the 3 best teams. #9 is going to break his body one of these days with those insane layouts, but until then, put all your stock in him.
Wisconsin: Nick Vogt is the real deal. He will do anything to win. He will make any and every call he needs to get his way. Even (especially) if it means leading his reckless band of cheaters through 4 TMFs to securing the last bid to nationals. Once more, they keep their 20-year nationals streak alive by just a hair. #64, the slow lumbering powerful thicc boy, is the unsung hero of this team. Wisconsin moms are not what they used to be.
Carleton: Nobody willing to step up and shoulder the responsibility. How many u24 players from the #4 nationally ranked team does it take to earn any of the regional bids? This is the 2nd time in 5 years they haven’t made nationals. Can’t imagine how uncomfy that bus ride back home to Northfield must’ve been. Having been so used to having everything handed to them, the astonished looks on the private school kids faces when the working class public school teams put them in their place was priceless (rest assured, if it had a price, CUT parents would’ve bought it).
