All-Region 2025: New England (D-III Men’s)

Who are the best players in the New England region? This is an open thread to discuss All-Region nominations, All-Freshman nominations, coaching awards, and more. Stay positive and keep it civil.

The freshman Declan Sullivan-Flynn has put on an absolute carry job at Amherst College this season.

Brandeis has some dogs this year. While there’s guys such as Noah Baumann, a wild card who can create game changing plays on a flip of a coin, Nathaniel Pazos, whose offensive game has matured to a new level, Jingyuan Shi, the quiet but deadly handler with brutal fakes that zips throws past his defenders, and Lars Kovamees, the calm O Line hybrid who is the consistent metronome of the offense, there are some key players who I think deserve regional recognition.
Noah Zall has emerged as the cream of the crop of Brandeis’ freshmen, and he is a important part of the O-line. He has a beautiful inside flick, and can sky like no other.
Jesse Levisohn is a top three defender in the region, taking the toughest matchups and being the pivotal part of Brandeis’ defensive sets. He is nearly unguardable in small spaces, and has a nasty flick huck to go along with it.
Ryan Carmichael has emerged as one of the best players in the region. He can fill any role you ask him on the o-line. Need a initiation cutter? He’s got you. Need a deep threat to keep defense’s honest? He’s your man. Need a guy to throw a dot deep? Don’t even ask. Need a guy to work small spaces in the endzone? Stay with me now. Carmichael’s high release backhand is poetry in motion, like reading Shakespeare’s Sonnet 18 on a beautiful sunny day in May while you’re madly in love. Even if you need a guy to lock down the best handlers in the region, Ryan will do it for you. To paraphrase a famous quote, “Gabe Colton, you can go now. Ryan Carmichael is here.”
Speaking of Gabe Colton, he and the rest of the coaching staff at Brandeis (Adam Rogers, Cameron Park, Matt Sehgal, and Andrew Pillsbury) have taken a young Tron team and pushed them to another level this season. A lot of last year’s team that finished ninth at regionals is still on this team, and Colton has refined them into a dark horse regional contender. While there are flashes of inconsistency, I have no doubt that Tron will be playing their best frisbee in May.

I’ve heard Williams has a freshman who’s been drizzling people on and off the field.

Hey Charlie, I’ve got something for you.

My team (Holy Cross Purple Heys) qualified for regionals after a team dropped out and the bid fell to us, and there’s an interesting story to be told there.

South NE DIII conferences was pushed back to Easter weekend due to terrible weather, which as a Catholic school presents some issues. We took 10 players on Saturday to compete in pool play.

We lost every game, despite our best efforts. Missing nearly all of our starting O and D lines, we did what we could. With Providence being a no show that Saturday, we ended with a 1-3 record including the forfeit win from Providence.

On Sunday, we had only 7 players present, exactly enough to not forfeit. After being down 7-3 to WNE, we went on a tear and won the game 12-8. Mind you, every single one of us was either hurt or severely fatigued going into the day. Me personally, I couldn’t run full sprint the whole day. After our miracle win, we lost in the game-to-go quite severely as the wheels simply fell off the wagon against Roger Williams.

Getting that email about our newly found bid yesterday sent our team into a frenzy. While I’m sure we’ll come in as the bottom seed, there’s not a single team that has seen us at full strength. Look out for Holy Cross next weekend, with standout players like Emmet Price ‘27 #12, Griffin Sieczkiewicz ‘26 #1, David Cappuccio ‘27 #2, Matt McDonough © ‘25 #33, and so many other dawgs ready to make the best of our second chance. If you’re looking for a dark horse, you’ve found it.

Sincerely,
Paul Newcomb, ‘25 #11

To be clear, we didn’t play a single DIII men’s game in the regular season, as we’re typically a mixed team, so do what you will with all region players. But I figured you and the rest of the community would like to hear our story

Kjellen Macbain is really good at frisbee. Probably deserves a nod.

As someone who has now played against Williams, I would rather have to fight 100 polar bears than receive pulls from Kjellen MacBain and be defended by Charlie Tantum for a full game.

Jasper pearcy is very cute! Nice soft hair, cheeky smile and a great body! The other day he finally talked to me and it made my day. I would say he fills a kelly oubre style role for the middlebury pranksters. Anyone who has looked into those beautiful eyes should know he belongs on an all region team. Other notable pranksters include: Drake, the ever forgotten Ifar Tallnight, and foot. Louis and Peter have recently been taking a backseat to these greater contributors. Watch out New England!

From Brandeis, senior Jesse Levisohn, junior Noah Baumann, and sophomore Ryan Carmichael all are some of the regions top players and should all make a first or second region team. All three offer top notch defense, with Levisohn perhaps being the a nod for best in the region, and Baumann and Carmichael are strong hybrid players that are strong with and without the disc. These three are certainly at the top of their game this season, and Baumann and Carmichael can only go up, with both almost certainly looking to play for top clubs in their future, while Levisohn will be sorely missed as a stable presence on defense and on doffense as he graduates, already as a player that can make a strong club team. Freshman Noah Zall deserves hype for all freshman as a strong handler that can be a center handler for any defensive or offensive line.
I also want to briefly mention some graduating players that will be deeply missed in the future, being Jingyuan Shi, one of our key handlers that can break any mark and hit any open player no matter where they are, Jacob Grosef, another handler with a nasty flick, Adam Dickstein, “The Rebound King” “Big / Biggest B” “Shape Merchant” “Big Shifty” a player that will beat you in small spaces despite what you think when you see him at first and a player with a great understanding of the game and the stock market, and James Wang, the hardest worker on the team that has improved significantly each year he has been on the team and now an important member of the A team.
The Brandeis coaching staff deserve another shoutout for turning many players that have not played or with minimal experience into excellent and systemed team players, being Gabe Colton, Adam Rogers, Cameron Park, and Matt Sehgal.

I also wanted to shoutout some lesser known players from our section that maybe don’t get the recognition they deserve. Wentworth has a few players that will look to be key parts of their future, being Joe Colella and Colby LaGrassa, who are both athletic and strong defenders. However, the player I most want to applaud is senior Sam Hurley. He is an athletic monster that ran the Wentworth offense and could get the disc back on D, and his presence will certainly be missed going forward for Jungle. From Bentley, I want to shoutout Hunter Logue, another senior that ran their team’s offense and defense. Logue was the deciding factor in the game to go to regionals, making huge defensive and offensive plays that secured the game for Icehouse. He has one of the most unique and effective flick (if you can call it that) pulls I have ever seen, and he has the throws, defense, and athleticism of a top player. Finally, from Stonehill, I want to mention Killian Gray. He was the center of Stonehill’s offense, basically running it from endzone to endzone with his throws. His over the tops can be brutal against unprepared defenses and his hucks can hit the athletic Stonehill cutters far downfield. If he didn’t get injured the game to go vs. Icehouse, the game would certainly have been different, and perhaps the result would have gone Stonehill’s way.

Lots of strong players all around the region this year, and hopefully some of my input is taken in consideration.

My top 7 picks from visiting some of the local tournaments this season:

Bates: Daniel Snider is still that guy, the way he keeps possession and goes upline is so tuff

Williams: David Kimberly is goated. So fast for his height.

Bowdoin: Wouldn’t be surprised if Gator quit frisbee to become an NBA player, really just a Cooper Flagg lookalike in all senses of the word

Colby: Jakob DSA has incredible amounts of heart. Very cool at parties and also can get the disc at will.

Middlebury: (3-dudes here, bear with me)

Peter Mans is so tall despite being 5’6, somehow the biggest guy on the field out there.

Ifarr can sorta get open on anyone he wants, heard he jumped over a guy too.

Jasper Pearcy, where oh where do I begin… He just has an attractive aura to him. I remember last year he cooked the entire Williams team while leading the Branksters. He just has a touch on the pulse of every facet of the game. Did I mention how handsome he was?

Jasper Pearcy, in addition to his extreme aura, is a magician on the field. One look into his deep gorgeous eyes puts any defender into a trance as he blows right by.

Ifarr Tallnight of the Pranksters cannot be overlooked too… What a menace

I’d like to give an all region freshman shoutout to Middlebury’s Theo “TBL” Holdsworth. Theo is a borderline violent defender, who shoots down offenders with ease. Theo patrols the skies with confidence and assuredness I haven’t seen since watching the old heads in ‘01. Super explosive athlete, has a tendency to blow stuff up. Great instincts in the handler set as well. Overall Theo is a great player who looks to be a staple player for the pranksters for years to come.

I already posted in this thread once, but after regionals, I felt like I had a clearer sense on some of the main guys on other teams.

Bates:
Everyone knows about Daniel Snider and his impact on the team. He’s the guy for Bates, and he’s an incredible thrower and should have sustained success on a high level club team for the foreseeable future (pun intended). I would like to shoutout two other guys who were really important for this Bates team, Miles Miller and Zack Van Dusen, who were pivotal guys. Miller is a great compliant to Snider as a handler, and Rico is a pivotal deep threat for the team with secure throws.

Bentley:
Hunter Logue and Reuben Chorney have had stellar seasons for the Icehouse. Hunter is a do it all type of guy for Bentley, acting as a deep threat, reset look, and lockdown defender. His pulls are fun and effective, and he is a fitting captain for the team. Reuben is the main handler, and his inside flick/backhand are dots. He also has a 360 backhand throw, which catches the mark off guard and is more accurate than you think it would be.

Bowdoin:
Bowdoin has a whole host of guys who could be mentioned, as they are a deep team (and earned their place at nationals). Cole Fairfield is a menace in the deep space, and clashed with reigning DPOY Charles Tantum in their backdoor finals matchup in the game to go. Benjamin Halperin is also a steady presence on their o-line, consistent with his throws and making the right reads on offense. Zach Widmyer was also a crucial part of their win over Williams as an important part of their O-line. Theo Barton does warrant a shoutout. These guys were the key pieces to take Bowdoin to nationals for the first time since 2019.

Williams:
Charles Tantum has a not talked enough bag on offense, and he’s obviously a great defender. Wade Buchheit is the heart and crucial peace of WUFO’s offense, and he makes brilliant throws and is open on the reset at crucial moments. He is joined by Adam Kohn, who played his heart out during the Bowdoin game. Kjellen MacBain maybe has the best pull in the region (D3 wise) and is a dog in the air and on defense. Kiva Zimmerman is also steady presence and plays hard defense. It is a shame that there was only two bids for the region this year, as Williams deserved a spot at nationals too.

Note: Middlebury is obviously good, but I didnt get to see them play that much. They have guys like LDB and Geir Hartl, Gavin Rice, Peter Mans, Jorre Dahl etc. Some of these definitely would be on my all region teams, but I wanted to pick guys who I’ve personally seen and played against (sorry pranksters).

All Region First Team (in no order… minus Middlebury)
Wade Buchheit (#29 WUFO)
Charles Tantum (#8 WUFO)
Daniel Snider (#19 Orange Whip)
Ryan Carmichael (#77 Tron)
Jesse Levisohn (#13 Tron)
Cole Fairfield (#21 Clown)
Ben Halperein (#88 Clown)

All Region Second Team
Adam Kohn (#91 WUFO)
Kjellen MacBain (#24 WUFO)
Miles Miller (#11 Orange Whip)
Theo Barton (#4 Clown)
Zach Widmyer (#20 Clown)
Noah Baumann (#4 Tron)
Lars Kovamees (#12 Tron)

There are probably guys missing, but I do believe this region is the toughest region to get out of in the country. There’s a real possibility that there are at least five nationally competitive teams in the region, and the work and time these guys put in should be admired and respected.

This is Kjellen from WUFO. First of all, what a wonderfully competitive and high-level tournament that was this weekend. The way the division and region has improved since my freshman year is so exciting. Best of luck to Midd and Bowdoin in Burlington. These are some players who deserve recognition:

Bates:
Miles Miller and Daniel Snider are absolute dogs. They played almost every point against us and are just insanely dependable and talented handlers.

Brandeis:
BIG curly hair (I’m so sorry for not remembering your name or number). Fast, big, deep threat and silky flick huck.

Bowdoin:
Gator is unstoppable as a deep threat. We had no answer for his dominance in the cutter space. Also, didn’t throw a single turn (I think) in the game to go. Clearly Bowdoin’s leader and just a monster athlete. Topaz and Sparrow (?) are also quite nice with it.

Midd:
Peter, Louis, and Geir are some obvious picks. Jasper also disgusting. Gavin as well. Lots of dudes on this team that would not look out of place on all region/American teams.

Williams:
Where to even begin. I am so proud of this team and there are so many people I want to give love to here.

Charlie Tantum should win the Donovan. There is not another D3 player who has put together a more complete and dominant career than this fella. One of the most fearless, confident, talented, and just plain athletic people I’ve ever seen on a frisbee field. He is also an excellent leader, friend, and has been the beating heart of WUFO since his freshman year.

Wade Buchheit and Adam Kohn have been unguardable as our two main o-line handlers this year. We put so much trust in them to play an insane amount of high pressure points this year and they stepped up in a major way. Wade’s defense is also insane.

David Kimberly, Orr Teva, Kiva Zimmerman, and Kai LaMothe are all sophomores who are just gross. Watch out for them to return in better shape, with better throws, and an absolute chip on their shoulder. After operating in crucial rotational roles last year, they have all taken a massive step forward and have turned into heavy crossover players.

Josh Bruns and Kawika Tu will lock up your favorite player. Enough said.

Lastly, Nicholas Bollman has had a brutal year with injuries, and though he was unable to play at regionals, he is a SCARY matchup. Another incoming senior to watch next year. Don’t be surprised if he lands on an All-American team with like 20 goals at nattys.
