McBeth Nearly Hits An Ace At Ledgestone

Paul McBeth nearly grabbed the on-video highlight of the week with his tee shot on hole 5 during today’s third round of the Ledgestone Insurance Open.

This was the same hole that Gregg Barsby aced in round one, and it sure looked like we had another one, this time on video. The fans in the background sure celebrated like it was, but…

Upon arriving at the green it was apparent that McBeth’s disc had wedged itself into the cage from the outside, and was not an ace. The disc must come to rest either in the chains, or in the bottom of the basket, to count as in. He’d tap in for the easiest possible birdie, though.

From the desk of the Ultiworld Disc Golf’s Investigative Journalism Team, we note that Jeremy Koling was not present on the card and that is likely the cause of McBeth’s shot not being just a few inches higher to complete the ace.

Koling’s exact whereabouts are unknown, except that he is in Estonia somewhere, likely honing his ace-bringing abilities. Disc golf fans everywhere are hoping he returns to the tour for the Idlewild Open to bring more filmed aces.
