PDGA World Rankings Update: Johansen On The Rise

The Professional Disc Golf Association updated its World Rankings this week, and there was some significant movement on the leaderboard.

Ricky Wysocki maintained his top spot in the rankings after finishing the year as both the Disc Golf Pro Tour and Disc Golf World Tour points champion, while Paul McBeth sits in second place despite having a higher PDGA rating. K.J. Nybo moved up three spots and is currently in third place, while Nikko Locastro moved up a slot into fourth. Although he dropped two spots from his previous ranking, Nate Doss rounds out the Top 5.

The biggest mover on the men’s side, though, was Michael Johansen. His fourth place United States Disc Golf Championship finish and third place standing in the Disc Golf Pro Tour found him rocketing up the board into seventh overall. He was ranked 24th back in August.

Nate Sexton, who was previously ranked fourth in the world, tumbled to 11th place after his 28th place finish at USDGC.

On the women’s side, the Top 5 remained unchanged, as Catrina Allen, Paige Pierce, Valarie Jenkins, Sarah Hokom, and Eveliina Salonen comprise the Top 5. Lisa Fajkus moved up to sixth place from her previous ranking of eighth, while Nicole Bradley, Madison Walker, and Paige Bjerkaas all made impressive leaps up the board.

The rankings, which can be seen here, are compiled based on players’ performances not just at USDGC and the various tours, but also the PDGA National Tour, the Euro Tour, and Majors.
