Who are the best players in the Atlantic Coast region? This is an open thread to discuss All-Region nominations, All-Freshman nominations, coaching awards, and more. Stay positive and keep it civil.
Catholic University of America
- Grace Castro for All Region: Dynamic hybrid (leans towards handler). 2-year captain. Quick on her feet, made a few handblocks at ACCCs. The heart of the team.
- Christine “Gram” Tomasic for All Region: A powerhouse hybrid (leans handler). Big throws, wild layouts, and an incredible closing speed. High efficiency and endurance.
- Katie O’Brien for All Region: A forceful cutter, returning from a year of injury and a semester abroad. Caught the winning point in semis over Mary Washington.
- Emily “Yams” McGuire: Starting handler with a big flick. A true team player. Is able to work with any line.
- Liz Shoemaker for All Region: Another handler-leaning hybrid. This sophomore is a star on the rise. Has ramped up intensity on defense this spring.
- Abby Grabowski for All-Freshman: This former sprinter has been quick (ha) to pick up the game. Hard to beat deep and willing to use her height.
Mary Washington: I was blown away by the progress Mary Wash has made since last year- a lot of credit to Coach Mary Beth for her work to push the team. This is a team to watch.
- Leslie Pullen for All Region: A key handler and leader on the field. Brings poise and power to the backfield. Only a sophomore! Very much looking forward to seeing her in future years.
- Rose Kostka: This handler is proof that you can always get open on offense. She reads her defender well and can find options about anywhere. As a deep in the zone, she denies just about every long shot.
