Knox Captain here. We would like to nominate Beck Baird and Leah Wheatley for all-region and Sarah Strauss for all-freshman from Knox. For All-Region, Beck’s offensive ability as a handler to break a mark and throw well in the wind and the rain was unmatched. He also played super well as mid-mid in our zone all weekend, truly shutting down the upline space. Leah’s offensive ability as a cutter led her commanding our cutter stack all weekend and scoring many of our points, and the chemistry she has worked hard to create with our handlers made her cuts and clears always happen when and where needed. For All-Freshman, Sarah truly showed her ability to hold a strong wing position in our zone, and showed strong knowledge of flowing into and out of the handler stack, making her a frequent upline-swing choice on the weekend. Further, she is one of the most coachable members of our team, and quickly picked up on new offensive and defensive strategies as other teams learned our offensive and defensive strategies and we had to adapt.
We would also like to nominate Joanna Larson and Haili McConnell from Wheaton, Hailey Bianco from North Park, and Rebekah Pike from Valparaiso. All four of these players individually showed strong handler and cutter ability, pushing our zone from both ends and exemplifying strong frisbee knowledge for their team. Further, they were all strong leaders for each of their teams, and were frequently seen and heard both pushing and uplifting their fellow teammates.
