All-Region 2024: Southeast (D-III Women's)

Who are the best players in the Southeast region? This is an open thread to discuss All-Region nominations, All-Freshman nominations, coaching awards, and more. Stay positive and keep it civil.

In a small region with only three teams, (two previously) multiple players do not get the recognition as deserved. These are the ones I suggest from each of the teams:

Union- Union by far has become the powerhouse of the Southeast this year, blowing out both Berry and Georgia College with 15-2 and 15-1 respectively. Union is the team to watch at Nationals this year, after winning the Region.

Claire Ward- Claire is a 3rd year player, her freshman year being 2021, with the double Fall/Spring seasons. In the Fall 2021, she barely saw the field but in the years have grown to become the main leader of her team. Claire always finds a way to get open, and is certainly very fast. Not only that but she is such a kind hearted person, who is a very good leader on and off the field.

Tori Green- Tori is another who everyone in the region remembers her name. She is the person you want to keep the disc out of her hands, as she is always calm, collected and confident behind the disc. In the handler space she is deadly, always finding a way to get open for her teammates reset. She has an amazing look down field for deep looks, and is going to do amazing things at Nationals.

Olivia Haynes- A cutter who is always able to go for the deep, and is just all around very fast. I am not sure what year she is, but she was on nearly every point and never seemed to get tired. 50/50 discs in the air, would always come down in her hands.

Berry- Berry College lost majority of their team, only returning 4 players from previous seasons. While the results did not go their way, the team has heart, passion and worked as hard as they could all year.

Rose Hill- Senior Captain Rose Hill returned this year to fill large holes in the roster. Rose would fill wherever her team needed her. Shooting deep was her specialty, being able to put it where she wanted. Rose also has a killer upline, and is able to bring her team together in the endzone space to capitalize on their opportunities. She was a consistent voice in games and practice, keeping the energy high and spirits up.

Rosie Driscoll- This is Rosie’s second year with Berry but she has grown and learned so much in the short time. She came to us in her Junior year, knowing nothing about Frisbee but then became a key player very shortly into it. She is calm behind the disc, and trusts her teammates. She is never the type of person who has to have the glory plays, but instead is calm and quietly making big moves.

Laurel Hoffman- A freshman who just came to us knowing nothing about frisbee but egar to learn. Laurel was consistent at practice, the faster on the field, and would always be running deep. She is always ready to take feedback and implement what was told to her onto the field. Laurel’s throws have come a long way from her first day, and is always out there putting in extra time and energy. She is definitely someone who is going to emerge to be a leader onto the team.

Georgia College-

Madeline Shea- A leader who deserves a shout out for being able to get her team to regionals this year, after previously not being able to have the numbers the last two years. Shea demonstrated great leadership qualities, and was an amazing player on the field who took advantage where she could. I am very glad they were able to get together as a team this year and allow for more growth in the Southeast region. She taught all of her players what they know, and hopefully will allow for the team to continue to grow in upcoming years.
