Ultimate players are often faced with a tradeoff between quality and price. You can get premium jerseys, but you’ll pay for them; go with the cheaper option and you’ll notice it in the material and the fit.
AthletesCollective wants to change that equation.
A new apparel startup out of Canada, AthletesCollective designs high quality, performance men’s athletic gear at modest prices. How do they do it? Take the marketing and branding costs out of the gear.
“We don’t put our logo on anything,” said AthletesCollective founder Adam Mintz. "That’s the position in the market that I’m trying to take which no one in the sports world is doing.”
Mintz explained how the prices of most high-end gear – Nike, Under Armour – are inflated because of the massive marketing budgets behind them for athlete sponsorships and advertising. Budget brands avoid those costs but also compromise on quality.
“AthletesCollective plays in the middle of that,” he said. "You’re going to get the same high quality stuff but at 30-40% less.” It’s especially attractive for US-based players because the apparel is prices in Canadian dollars, a weak currency at the moment.
AC’s gear is simple but comfortable – perfect for track days, pickup, or the gym. Mintz says it is perfect for “egoless athletes,” and that “ultimate players exemplify that exactly.”

Currently, AthletesCollective offers men’s shirts (short sleeve, long sleeve, and sleeveless) and shorts, with new v-neck shirts and shorter inseam shorts coming to the store within a few weeks.
The shirts are perfect for seamlessly transitioning between the field and the postgame bar crawl, without looking like you just came from summer league. “They fit like your favorite cotton shirt that you’ve worn and washed 1000 times,” said Mintz.
Women’s gear is on the horizon, but won’t be available for at least a year. “Developing an entire line for women is an expense that I can’t incur just yet,” said Mintz.
