Thanksgiving is a time to reflect on all that has been given to us, and what we are thankful for.
Because we’re incapable of feelings outside of disc golf, the Ultiworld Disc Golf Staff took a minute to share some of the discs in our bags that we are most thankful for this holiday.
A haiku to my Prodigy A3, 400 plastic:
True to its hyzer;
It is a foul-weather friend.
Upshots assured. Peace.
~ Alex Williamson
The disc I’m most thankful for is the C-Line FD by Discmania. FD should stand for “Favorite Disc,” because no matter what kind of course I’m battling that day I’m not leaving home without at least one in the quiver. It’s the most versatile and accurate driver in my bag, hands down. ~ Jamie Thomas
I’m thankful for my comet. I use mine for tee shots and upshots. I’m comfortable throwing it on basket runs and into the ground since it doesn’t skip, even a little bit. Hyzers, hyzer flips, straight and turnover shots. Just a great disc. ~ Chris Wiklund
My good friend Mike Ditrolio gave me this Star Teebird as an early Christmas present in 2005 and it’s been in my bag ever since. It’s a thrower, but I’m definitely sentimental about it. When I touch up my contact information, I always retrace his original Xmas greeting. Every time I throw this disc it reminds me to be thankful for friendships fostered on and off the course. ~ Patrick Aubyrn
This Thanksgiving, I am most thankful for my Star Roc3. After two years of heavy use this disc can do a little bit of everything, meaning I can clear precious space in my bag for my favorite bits of autumnal flair: flannel shirts, greasy turkey drumsticks, and of course multiple mugs of piping hot mulled cider. As an added bonus, in a season when fallen leaves and snow can disappear a disc the instant it goes off the fairway, my blue bottom-stamped never leaves its line and always lands flat for optimal findability. ~ James Bress
I’m thankful for Davis Rice, who once upon a time was a camper at Camp Rockmont and used this Star Roc. He eventually parted ways with that disc, and it found its way into a used bin at my local Play It Again Sports. When I found it, I was trying out some different midrange discs having fallen out of love with Rocs. I decided to pick it up as I’d never tried out a Star variety, and in the past couple of years, I’m back to my Roc ways with Rockmont being old trusty. ~ Benn Wineka
I am very thankful for my Dynamic Discs Lucid Justice. It is just the best. Upshots of the forehand or backhand varieties are never more reliable than when thrown with a Justice. Not to mention that it feels great in my hand and the board flat top makes it look super slick and clean, as a disc should. ~ Aaron Howard
