Ultiworld Disc Golf’s coverage of the 2021 PDGA Pro World Championships is presented by Skybreed Discs, a top online retailer and preferred vendor of the 2021 Ledgestone Insurance Open, and Aria Discs, a new disc golf brand making discs designed for beginners.
After announcing the largest-ever pro purse for a disc golf tournament with its projected payouts for the 2021 PDGA Pro World Championships last week, the final payout for 2021 Pro Worlds pushed the new record total to $173,000 with more funds added during the event.
The final Pro Worlds payout puts it well over the previous record holder 2020 Disc Golf Pro Tour Championship’s $130,400 payout. The 2021 DGPT Championship has already committed to at least a $150,000 purse.
“The host team has stepped up to add $40,000 on top of the player purse with funds finalized during Worlds Week,” said the PDGA via prepared statement. “We’d like to give a huge thank you to the tournament host team for their total efforts this week, including this great contribution to a record payout.”
This year’s Worlds payout includes more than $100,000 of added cash and top prizes of $16,500 in MPO and $10,000 in FPO. The winnings for first place finishes are among the highest ever in disc golf, though the DGPT Championships paid out $20,000 to the winners in both divisions last October.
