Simon Lizotte’s putter cooled off a bit compared to yesterday, but he made up for it with a late hot streak en route to a 10-under par second round to hold the lead at the Disc Golf World Tour’s Konopiště Open.
Germany’s top player landed on the green on 56 percent of the Franz Ferdinand course’s holes today – up from 39 percent in the first round – and strung together birdies on five of the last six holes to secure a one shot lead over Denmark’s K.J. Nybo (-21) heading into tomorrow’s final round. After sitting in eighth place after round one, Paul McBeth made a big push on moving day, also shooting 10-down to move into third place.
Lizotte is hitting 94 percent of his inside-the-circle putts for the tournament, while Nybo and McBeth sit at 91 and 87 percent, respectively. Any regression from Lizotte, or a a touch more consistency from the challengers, should make for some drama in tomorrow’s final round.
