Some of the first news coming out of the fall PDGA Summit includes an interesting tidbit about who can actually play Open at elite events in the coming season.
Robert Leonard colloquially referred to the new rule that players in the Open division for PDGA National Tour and Disc Golf Pro Tour events, and Pro Worlds will now have to meet a ratings threshold of 900 as the Lloyd Weema rule. Previously, players only needed to be registered with the PDGA as professionals.
Lloyd Weema made a splash at 2018 Pro Worlds, as well as subsequent events, playing as a 735-rated pro, by far the lowest in the field. He finished 194 strokes behind champion Gregg Barsby.
