Those months of summer domination by Paul McBeth and Paige Pierce first paid off in the form of fifth world titles for both players, and now the September 2019 PDGA Player Ratings update also makes McBeth and Pierce the highest-rated MPO and FPO players in history. Again.
McBeth topped his previous high of 1057 from July 2019 by two points to set the new marker at 1059. No other player has surpassed a 1051 rating.1
Pierce jumped seven points in one update to reach 980, becoming the first female player to surpass the 970s. She was rated 979 for one month in 2018. However, Pierce was not the only women’s player to hit a big milestone this month.
Six of the seven current highest-rated Open Women players set new rating highs with the September 2019 update. Catrina Allen (977), Henna Blomroos (968), Kristin Tattar (966), Eveliina Salonen (961), and Jennifer Allen (955) all hit career-best ratings. Tattar made the biggest leap, rising 10 points since August. We’ll also note that Ohn Scoggins has rejoined the 950 club, climbing 19 points to 951 in her first rating update in over two years.
We also received some news from the junior ranks, as 14-year-old Gannon Buhr from Urbandale, Iowa reached the 1000-rated mark. It could not be confirmed with the PDGA, but Buhr may be the youngest player to reach a 1000 rating.
Ricky Wysocki was at 1051 for three months in 2017. Eagle McMahon is the only other player to reach 1050. ↩
