An eventful moving day gave us new leaders after two days at the MVP Open at Maple Hill.
- Paige Pierce was able to cut down a couple mistakes and dial in her putter from distance to shoot an officially rated 1003 4-under par to move into the lead at 6-under par total. Pierce had six birdies over the final eight holes, which included a throw-in from outside Circle 2, and three C2 putts to overtake Sarah Hokom for first place on the 17th hole. Pierce is first in fairway hits and Circle 1 in regulation after 36 holes.
- An OB an two-putt on the water carry hole 14 led to a double-bogey for day one leader Hokom, who otherwise played a pretty clean day with only one other hole over par. Tricky lies were only partly to blame for a 44% C1X putting rate, with five holes needing two-putts inside 33 feet to finish. It’s her lowest percentage C1X round since the opener at the this year’s Ledgestone Open.
- Hailey King is in fourth place at 1-under par total, and her 2-under par second round saw her hit only 1-of-4 C1X attempts. She added two C2 birdies, and bookended her round with her two bogeys.
- On pace for her second career podium finish at Maple Hill is Lisa Fajkus, who moved up to third at 2-under par total.
The lead card of Pierce, Hokom, Fajkus, and King tees off at 3 pm EST.
