After weathering the outer bands of Hurricane Dorian overnight and a one hour delay on Saturday morning, the Nantucket Open went on as planned.
Despite continuing gusty conditions and rain, Calvin Heimburg posted an 11-under opening round to take the lead in the two round tournament. Ricky Wysocki and Tim Barham shot 10-unders in the 25 mph sustained winds. The second round is still planned for Saturday afternoon.
Players in attendance were posting conditions on the island on Instagram and Facebook. Brian Earhart elected to take the weekend off because of the miserable weather.
