Paige Pierce Leaves Dynamic Discs Sponsorship
Despite a 3-year sponsorship extension last offseason, Paige Pierce and Dynamic Discs are ending their agreement early.
“I need to step away from Dynamic Discs. That’s hard for me to say,” Pierce says in her video statement. “Another huge thing that is making this decision hard is that [Dynamic Discs] have absolutely shown the world that a woman can be the face of a company. They appreciate women’s disc golf and see the value in it.”
Paige confirmed to Ultiworld Disc Golf that she did not have a binding contract with the Emporia, Kansas company outside of an informal statement of support. She joined the team at Dynamic Discs in 2017 after several years at Prodigy Disc. She had previously been sponsored by Discraft prior to the 2013 Prodigy move.
Pierce said to expect a sponsor announcement “soon,” and that it would be a single-company sponsor. Sources tell Ultiworld that a new sponsor may be announced as early as this week.
“We’re certainly sad to see Paige go,” said Eric McCabe, Dynamic Discs Team Manager. “She was a fantastic player and representative for us, and we wish her nothing but the best”
Pierce and McCabe have a history in the sport, as he helped a fledgling Pierce break into the national scene.
“Eric McCabe is the first one to invite me out on the road in 2010 and I never looked back,” Pierce said.
Dynamic Discs also released a statement, reiterating its planned support for the 2019 world champion:
“Paige has decided to pursue other opportunities in disc golf, and while we had planned on a long, prosperous partnership with more World Championship titles and signature discs to come, we have decided to amicably part ways.”
