After three days and three rounds of singles play, Augusta University’s Dustin Perry and University of North Texas’ Allison Carlton were crowned the individual men’s and women’s winners at the National Collegiate Disc Golf Championships in North Augusta, South Carolina.
Perry finished with an 18-under par 135 for tournament, fending off stiff competition throughout the final day of individual play from second place finisher Justin Lammers of University of Wisconsin-Stout (17-under 136) and third place finisher Bryan Murphy of Ferris State University (14-under 139). Perry’s Augusta teammate Clint Kuglar (14-under 139) also took home a share of third place.
Carlton breezed to her title, shooting an even par 139 for the event. McKayla Thomas of Colorado State took second place with a 12-over 151, while Mikaela Bogdan of California State University-Monterey Bay (13-over 152) finished in third place.
Tomorrow’s final day of play features the team doubles championship in all divisions. In the National Championship Flight, Augusta holds a six-shot lead over Indian Hills (Iowa) Community College, while CSUMB brings a 27 shot lead over UNT to the Women’s Flight finals. Colorado State and Mississippi State, respectively, hold two shot leads in the First and Second Flights.
