Up until the past couple of seasons, one year agreements were the norm in disc golf. With more top talent being inked to multiyear contracts, however, it means we’ve started to enter the era of disc golf “free agents.”
The 2021 class of free agents is lead by Discmania’s Eagle McMahon, who signed a 2-year deal going into 2019 when teammate Simon Lizotte signed for five years, and Innova Star Team members Gregg Barsby and James Conrad. Barsby, the 2018 World Champion, and Conrad, the 2019 USDGC victor, both signed 2-year deals after the 2018 season.
Ezra Aderhold is currently unsponsored by a disc manufacturer and may be the marquee move of the year.
The Open Women’s division does not have as many big names coming off multiyear deals.
