Continued questions around coronavirus restrictions has caused the Disc Golf Pro Tour to change venues for the upcoming Portland Open. The June tournament was originally scheduled to return to Blue Lake Park, home of the inaugural Portland Open in 2019, but will move to Glendoveer Golf & Tennis for 2021. The 2020 event was canceled due to COVID-19.

“While we love the Blue Lake course, uncertainty regarding MetroPark’s ability to honor our course reservation due to COVID-19 concerns made it necessary to shift the event to our backup venue at Glendoveer,” said Jeff Spring, DGPT CEO & Director.

Dustin Keegan has designed a course at Glendoveer with an imposing 11,763-foot, par 66 layout for the men, and a women’s track at par 69 and 10,185 feet. Glendoveer has two 18 hole ball golf courses and Von Ebert Brewing on the property, and has previously hosted events such as Nike Cross Nationals.

Plans for future Portland Opens may include both Glendoveer and Blue Lake.

“The expansion of the event to include Glendoveer is an opportunity we had set our sights on, and the change this year is a fantastic way to accelerate our vision of what the Portland Open can be,” said Spring. “With towering pines and picturesque fairways, the venue will bring a new element to the Portland Open.”
