The skies were still smoky on Saturday at the Preserve Championship and a mix-up around the top spots means no player has a clear path to the championship on Sunday.

  • A late bogey on hole 17 from Eagle McMahon momentarily derailed an impressive round, but the Crush Boi rallied with an eagle on hole 18 to shoot the hot round 13-under par and tie Ricky Wysocki in first place at 24-under par total. After a first bogey on hole 5, McMahon put together nine straight birdies through the middle of the course with nine straight Circle 1X makes. He leads the division in finding C1 in regulation and strokes gained from C1X at 5.36.
  • Wysocki’s 9-under par was enough to keep pace, but he could never get anything consistent happening. On a course where you need to pick up under par scores, Wysocki only had one streak of three birdies or more and it was the start the round. Wysocki was at only 0.03 strokes gained putting for round 2.
  • It looked like Paul McBeth was shooting himself out of contention early during round 2. He was even par through five holes including a double bogey on hole 3 that saw him take two-putts from C2 and C1X. McBeth would two-putt three more times during the round, but did finish the day with eight straight birdies to remain in a podium spot in third at 22-under par total after a 10-under par moving day.
  • The only other double-digit under par rounds belonged to Matt Orum, who remains in fourth at 21-under par total, and Gannon Buhr, who moved one spot up into fifth at 20-under par total.
