The official caddy book for the 2020 United States Disc Golf Championship has yet to be released, but tournament director Jonathan Poole confirmed that the practice guide is a very close representation of the Winthrop Gold layout for this year.
Here are the two major changes from last year:
The two entirely new holes (3 and 4) that were widely criticized by players have been dropped from the course. Returning are the original holes 1 and 2, which were removed last year to create additional space for the tournament’s hospitality area. With no spectators allowed on site this year, the holes are back. “We’ll have to figure out what to do” when spectators return, said Poole.
The “triple island” hole 9 — which was also disliked by many pros — now just features an island green and a narrow, contiguous fairway. The deeper pin position is being maintained, rather than reverting to the 2017 layout.
