It’s always good to have a camera on Paul McBeth.
The defending PDGA world champion struggled with accuracy this weekend at the Vibram Open, scuffling off the course’s trees and hitting fairways on only 50 percent of his drives en route to a 12th place tie. It was the first time he’s finished outside the Top 10 at a PDGA National Tour event since the 2013 Beaver State Fling.
But that doesn’t mean he didn’t bring some of his expected magic.
In one of the highlights of the weekend – aside from all the aces and a first-time NT winner being crowned – McBeth recorded the second known eagle during tournament play on the Par 4, 605-foot 18th Hole of the Maple Hill Gold layout, throwing in from 125 feet out to card a two to close out Round Three.

Thanks to The Disc Golf Guy for capturing the shot, which McBeth made with an Innova Discs Nova. Per Vibram Open tournament director Steve Dodge and Maple Hill historian Gage Benson, the first eagle on that hole was made by Devon Labelle during the 2013 Vibram Open Am Side event.
